As you may have read in my about me page, I am Canadian and Ottawa is where I was born. Was in town on assignment back in December and it was actually quite fun to walk around while the air surged with holiday season flare. As I turned the corner, I saw the Parliament adorned with the Christmas patterned camouflage. Loved it and decided to go check it out.
There was probably three main clusters of people. One set who was posing and taking pictures of the lights, one near the Eternal Flame (probably staying warm), and finally the third was lining up to order some BeaverTails; which is a hand-stretched pastry made of whole wheat, then fried and served piping hot with your choice of topping. When in Rome, right? Headed towards the line which, only took like 10 minutes or so to get to the front. Then, as I went to order and pay, to my surprise… it was free!! Whaaa?!
So awesome!
Got to enjoy a nice hot BeaverTail in front of the Eternal Flame, watching the patterns on the Parliament change. What a wonderful evening~ The event usually happens between December 6 to January 7, but there are a good bit of BeaverTail shops who serve their famous pastries year round, just not free.

On Assignment for Chefs Feed!! 😀
This was a great opportunity to meet Chef Tony Maws from Craigie on Main. Was setup with a lucky one to many session where Chef Tony Maws and staff worked hard to get each dish out for me. Shot an array of dishes and each one looked even more mouth watering than the first. Don’t they look absolutely delicious!? Favorite was definitely the sweetbread. What a fabulous dish! Will definitely need to make another trip out to Boston soon to try more of Chef Maws’ cuisine.
Until next time.

What a treat! Been wanting to come to this restaurant for a while. Based on it’s out of country proximity I honestly didn’t think I would be able to try it; had forgotten about this place for a bit until I watched Anthony Bourdain’s The Layover – London. The chance to eat here came up by happenstance as my cousin and I were waiting for Chrisine to finish shopping and decided it would be a solid time to figure out what to do for dinner. Called St. John Hotel and was able to snag a last minute dinner reservation! Was SO happy!!
But the food, as expected, was great and the overall experience was wonderful; thanks to our server Michael for being SO entertaining and helpful when making our selections. Typically I would give highlights but everything was extremely delicious. Especially the Custard Tart. Wonderful that the best of the meal marked the end of the meal. Smoothest custard I’ve ever had; very unexpected.
I really want to go back and do the Feasting option; it’s for larger groups who wishes to order a whole suckling pig. It looked like there were a few other things that one would get for the feasting option, but the pig is all I can think about. 🙂 I’m drooling just thinking about it.

Another recommendation from the app, Chefs Feed. I went for the Spicy Lobster Tacos and wow, they were amazing! Crunch taco shell, succulent lobster, and a sweetness from the mango salsa just rounded the dish nicely. After the tacos I found myself still a bit hungry and decided I should also get one more dish. With the help of the polite and helpful server, decided on getting the Lobster Pasta as well. A wrong move as it ended up being a bit more than what I should have ordered but c’est la vie; it was delicious 🙂

So delicious!! This is actually my second go around to this awesome restaurant; this time with a good friend from my University days. We both chose a dish to “try” but I just had to have the squid ink noodles again. Just as good as I remember; I will definitely be back to have some of their other offerings.

Deciding to walk back to Central park from the pier, we were getting hungry so out came the Chefs Feed app to save the day. Love the ‘Feed Me Now’ option to find out what’s nearby. What we found was Wondee Siam. A quaint little Thai place off of 9th and 54th, based on the reviews it looked like the Duck Kra Prow was the thing to get. It was pretty good but I’ll have to go back to try some of their other offerings.
