What’s for dinner? Try a 15+ LBS / 7 KG Tasmanian Giant Crab!! This crab was so large, they parted this monster of the deep three ways to prepare the dishes above. Overall, Plume was a superb service and cuisine experience. Can’t wait to go back in a few days to try their Dim Sum offerings.

Upon arriving in Melbourne, Australia, had to warm up the ol’ stomach for the coming days of good eating; ended up heading to Papparich. A chain here in Melbourne that specializes in the classic flavors and dishes found in Malaysia. Definitely not of the same as eating in the hawker stands in KL/Penang/etc… but it’s ever a joy to taste some of those familiar flavors. Favorite dish was definitely the Curry Laksa.

Finally got to visit Chicago!
Having heard so many great things about the city, it begs the question, “Why didnt I go and visit sooner?!” Coming that weekend for the purpose of a wedding, I came with some friends and suggested that we hit up this restaurant; I’ve been wanting to try it for some time. If you do want to go, my suggestion is to make a reservation like 4-6 weeks out. It was pretty tough to find a reservation, but to be fair it was for 11 people so I guess I’ll just put a ‘YMMV’.
A really easy going and chill atmosphere, it’s definitely a restaurant that is there to make sure you’re taken care of. Even as it got closer to closing time, it was noted that the kitchen would stay open until we didn’t want to order anything more. I dont think I’ve ever heard that before; quite awesome!
Favorites were definitely the wood oven roasted pig face, roasted cauliflower, grilled baby octopus, crisp braised pork shank… ok, there were a lot of solid dishes. Feel free to be adventurous and just let the people there help order for you. My only negative, and it might have been that night, but the green beans were four or five pinches too salty but outside of that, the meal was good!

After eating all weekend at the Top Chef cruise, in typical Matt Wong fashion, I made full use of my time while in Miami and searched for a place with good food. Used my Chefs Feed app and found this place. If you’re hungry, get the large. It is HUGE.
Hot broth, delicate noodles, and assorted/tender beef.

Not my first and definitely not going to be the last trip here. Went with a few friends this time (one of whom is Atlanta based photographer, Trent Chau) to introduce them to a great burger. I was also introduce to something new, which is now my new favorite at this awesome gastro-pub; bacon caramel popcorn! Who knew?! (rhetorical, because obviously the people at H&F did). So good. Thanks Trent for lending me the 35mm 1.4L USM. Unfortunately.. I am now hooked on the lens. May have to add it to my equipment list…
