Used the mortar and pestle to grind / incorporate the ingredients

The class listening, watching and learning; it was a lot of fun!

Vegetable Stew (made with ginger, green chili, whole black pepper, etc. in a coconut milk broth)

Aromatic Basmati rice with butternut squash and spinach.

Classic Kerala stir-fry seasonal vegetable; red cabbage

Kerala Beef Curry (chili powder, star anis, coriander, turmeric, and cinnamon)

Time to eat!

A wonderful experience to learn the basics of Kerala cuisine from such a passionate and kind individual. I will definitely need to check this restaurant out next time I’m in town. The food I had that day was great and can only imagine their other dishes are like. If anything, try the Cardamom tea. It’s fantastic!

Rustic Canyon | Los Angeles, CA USA

Menu

Rustic Canyon Burger

Warm Chocolate Financier

A really good place to grab a solid burger. Went with my friend Sarah to check this place out. First time I had a burger with a sunny side egg on it; recommended to break the egg yolk and let it ooze all over the burger to compliment the flavors and be the binding agent that brings it all together. Good food / good night.  I think I had one of the worst food comas in 2011 because of that burger.

BBQ Pork sandwich on Jalapeno bread from PR BBQ

Recommended by my friend Torey Haas, founder of Monsterbuster Entertainment – an independent production company based out of Atlanta; hidden off Chattahoochee Ave, this BBQ experience has been around for 25+years. They pride themselves with their traditional old southern methods of slow cooking using hickory wood. Much like what Torey states, it’s the Jalapeno bread that makes your BBQ experience unique.
